The Chicago Council of Lawyers’ newly installed President, Robert Held, has called upon the relevant state agencies to enforce the law against ICE agents driving illegally and dangerously without license plates in the Chicago area. Unmarked ICE vehicles have repeatedly been observed in Broadview and Lombard driving hazardously and without proper license plates. Last week one of those vehicles rammed another vehicle during a chase in a quiet suburban neighborhood, causing the car to crash.

The Council has previously requested the Secretary of State’s office, the State Police and the Broadview police to enforce the law against such actions by ICE drivers. To date those calls have gone unanswered, despite statements by various state officials that ICE agents should be held accountable for their actions.
