Chicago Council of Lawyers President Rob Held warned ICE agents and federal officials that they must uphold the law. He spoke at a press conference about the civil lawsuit he filed a lawsuit against Adam Saracco, the ICE agent who recently pleaded guilty to battery for his attack against Held last December.

Chicago Council of Lawyers has continued to advocate for accountability, due process, and adherence to the rule of law in connection with federal immigration enforcement activities.

Chicago Council of Lawyers President Rob Held was at the Broadview Immigration Detention Center September 19, when at least 10 protesters were maced by federal agents, presumed to be ICE. Held has been involved in ongoing legal challenges concerning protest restrictions and First Amendment rights in Broadview.

It was exactly one year since demonstrations at the site first escalated into violent confrontations between federal officers and protesters.

The incident renews questions surrounding the use of force against demonstrators, the right to peaceful protest, and accountability for federal law enforcement activity in Broadview.

Federal agents in IL keep claiming that members of the public are endangering them with their vehicles. So why do so many of those ICE vehicles have front-end damage?

Chicago Council of Lawyers President Rob Held is calling on @ilsecofstate and @govpritzker to enforce the law against ICE agents driving illegally and dangerously without license plates in the Chicago area. Unmarked ICE vehicles have repeatedly been observed in Broadview and Lombard driving hazardously and without proper license plates.

The Council has previously requested the Secretary of Stateโ€™s office, the State Police and the Broadview police to enforce the law against such actions by ICE drivers. To date, those calls have gone unanswered, despite statements by various state officials that ICE agents should be held accountable for their actions.
