He went because, as he told Don Lemon, he was &#8220;outraged about what the administration and several agencies are doing; not just to immigrants, but to people with lawful status and people that were born here as well.&#8221; He went because constitutional rights under attack demand a robust response.<br><br>The CCL lawyer\u2019s clear, measured words\u2014calling out violations of due process and demanding accountability\u2014reached millions because they spoke truth in a moment when truth matters most. This is what CCL members do: we show up, we speak clearly, and we defend the rule of law.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We Need You Now<\/strong><br>The CCL needs more members, and more visibility, precisely because attacks on the rule of law\u2014and moments like these\u2014are happening every day. Constitutional rights don&#8217;t defend themselves. Justice doesn&#8217;t happen automatically. The rule of law requires defenders.<br><br>Former board member Jennifer W.Y. Lee puts it perfectly: &#8220;Whether it&#8217;s through mentorship programs, public interest initiatives, or advocacy efforts, the Council provides a platform for you to make a difference.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Join the Legacy\u2014Shape the Future<\/strong><br>From successfully challenging federal restrictions on attorney speech in 1970 to Robert Held&#8217;s 2025 stand for constitutional rights, <a href=\"https:\/\/ccol.app.neoncrm.com\/track\/\/servlet\/DisplayLink?orgId=ccol&amp;emailTrackingId&amp;secureId&amp;linkId=5874&amp;targetUrl=https:\/\/ccol.app.neoncrm.com\/forms\/membership\">CCL members<\/a> have never shied away from defending the rule of law when it&#8217;s under attack.
